They Only Kill Their Masters - Incredible group of actors in troubling modem-night whodunit set in coastal California town; tries for Daniel Hammett sensation, doesn't relatively make it. Cop Garner tries to unravel murder of pregnant female, with fearsome Doberman pinscher figuring prominently. Not poor, however a disappointment. Cast includes James Garner, Katharine Ross, Hal Holbrook, Harry Guardino, June Allyson, Peter Lawford, and Ann Rutherford. (97 minutes,'72)
Philadelphia - Andrew Beckett is a gay lawyer who has Aids. He is dying of the illness. He was terminated from the conventional law firm he worked for because there was fear of contracting the disease from him. As he battles to live on, he chooses to sue the law firm, to help further the cause of other Aids victims. His initially homophobic lawyer, fights through his bias to fight for this cause.
Down Argentine Way - Enjoyable 20th Century Fox musical with Grable in the movie that increased her to prominence falling in love with slick Argentinean horse breeder Ameche. Miranda is brilliant in her first American movie, acting infectious Brazilian melodies with her own band and look out for the Nicholas Brothers, who do a dynamite forte number. Picture postcard color all the way through. Cast includes Don Ameche, Betty Grable, Carmen Miranda, Charlotte Wood, Carrol Naish, Henry Stephenson, and Leonid Kinskey. (90 minutes,'40)
Tombstone - Policeman Wyatt Earp is all set to retire. He has successfully cleaned up the streets of Dodge City, and moves to Tombstone. There he meets up with his brothers, and longtime friend Doc Holiday. Meanwhile a band of outlaws, called The Cowboys, are running wild in the area. This sets up the legendary shoot out at the OK Corral.
