Honeymoons are too often an afterthought to the planning of the wedding itself, when, as far as memories go, they are of equal, if not greater, importance. Your honeymoon is a time which you'll remember for the rest of your life, so give careful consideration to honeymoon ideas and honeymoon locations.
Initially determine what your objectives are for the trip and what you can and can't live without. Where do you want to go? Do you want to relax or be active? What are your priorities? Beautiful weather, sightseeing, adventure, cost, etc. Discuss honeymoon ideas with your spouse to be, talk about locations, undertake some online research and ask your friends and family for opinions.
Visits to secluded beach resorts or islands remain the most popular choice, for obvious reasons. Such trips allow you to spend quality time together whilst relaxing from the busy schedule of the last few months and taking in stunning surroundings.
Cruises are another option; they offer the same quiet, relaxing experience whilst at the same time making it possible to visit a host of different locations. If you would have a preference for a more active honeymoon, give consideration to an adventure travel trip or a mountain resort.
Regarding honeymoon locations, consider the following: Australia, Bali, Belize, Caribbean, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, French Polynesia, Greece, Hawaii, Italy, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Thailand.
Whichever kind of location and honeymoon you choose, look to make reservations at least six months beforehand to ensure that you'll have the pick of the rooms, and can begin planning in general. See your hotel if they offer a 'romance' or 'honeymoon' package available to enhance your time away; romantic extras like the honeymoon suite, iced champagne and flowers will make your time away more memorable still.
As soon as your hotel is arranged, starting researching and booking tours, tickets, restaurant seats, and various other activities for which advance reservations can be needed, especially should you be going on your honeymoon during peak season.
Your overall objective should be to make your honeymoon stand out from any other vacation. Along with your standard vacation items, try taking some fun extras with you, such as lingerie, bubble bath, candles and romantic music.
